Coaching & Courses

WORKPLACE COACHING
Workplace coaching helps you set and reach goals faster, accomplish more, focus on what's important, and balance work and life. It's a partnership between you and a coach who acts as a supporter, problem-solver, and motivator. They ask questions that help you find the answers, and you put them into action. The result? Increased motivation and satisfaction.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR COACH
Hugh Dennis is a qualified CIPD and ILM professional in training, management, executive coaching, and leadership mentoring. His style is described as a supportive challenge that motivates clients. He actively listens and empathises with clients, asks questions, and provides suggestions for action. He breaks down complex issues into manageable steps and has extensive experience in the public sector. His approach can be summarised as "LIKE" - Listening, Incisiveness, Knowledge, and Explanation.
WHAT COACHING ACHIEVES
Coaching benefits employers by making staff more focused, motivated, productive, and effective team members. Staff who receive coaching have achieved things like securing better jobs, reducing stress through improved time management, developing a clearer career path and positively adapting to organisational change.
A COACHING CASE STUDY
The London Borough of Redbridge had to make drastic budget cuts and restructure their management team. They reached out to Guiding to Development for coaching to help the new managers succeed in their roles. Initially, the managers struggled with the added responsibilities and new areas of management. However, after six months and many coaching sessions, all departments were performing well, managers were developing in their enhanced roles, and the council was gaining additional funding and credibility among peers. Group Manager Mark Benbow said, "Coaching has helped us survive and thrive in the present austerity environment."
TRAINING COURSES
Hugh Dennis and his Associate offer top-notch training courses for clients in the public sector. Hugh is a qualified Spanish interpreter and brings over 20 years of experience running successful training programs, an engaging and motivating energy, and a global perspective to his courses. Testimonials

‘I found Hugh to be a very understanding, caring coach… If I was to take away one thing it would be to not spread myself too thin and try to do everything’ I am now better at saying no’.
Peter J, London
‘Hugh has definitely helped me recognise my personal achievements and the range of actions/decisions I take on a daily basis to ensure objectives are met. I am far more aware of how my actions impact the service in the wider context as well as taking ownership of my achievements; this was
something of a light bulb moment for me and an area of personal growth which will now remain with me throughout my career'.
Jane Smith, Essex
‘Hugh provided excellent feedback and support on how I could implement ideas, make decisions, implement changes and overcome obstacles to achieve immediate goals. ‘In particular, I gained confidence, I’ve been more
inclined to take measured risks and I have delegated more to keep up with my extra responsibilities’.
David Farakay, London
